Is the pool open to the public?
Yes, our pool is now a community pool. By transitioning to a 501c3 nonprofit corporation we are not allowed to be privately owned or issue stock.
Will there be a Family Plan for 2023?
We have moved to a "per person" membership platform, and there are no longer "bundle" packages.
Why are you not offering a “Family Package?”
Unfortunately, the family and grandparent pricing package of recent years is not a feasible option for the financial future of the HSO pool. After reviewing many pool pricing strategies, combined with the historical pricing strategy of the Hillsboro Pool, the HSO Board of Directors chose to move to the “individual season pass system.” This individual pass system supplemented by daily passes allows families to mix and match. In most cases, this pricing strategy will provide a viable option.
Do you have a "babysitter" plan?
A babysitter must be at least 13 years of age and will need to have an Individual Season pass in their name.
Examples for Mix and Match Pricing for families that include individuals that are “infrequent pool attenders.”
We recommend utilizing the Daily Pass option if a patron will be attending the pool less than 10-15 times this season.
Family of 4, (Father, Mother, teenage son plays baseball, teenage daughter) Father & son mostly attend on weekends.
Mix and Match pricing – Individual Season Pass for Mother ($150.) and teenage daughter ($150.) = $300. Father and teenage son attend via Daily Passes.
Family of 5, (Father, Mother, College student, 10 yr. old, 4 yr. old) Father seldom attends pool, College student has summer job & rarely attends.
Mix and Match pricing – Individual Season Passes for Mother ($150.) + Add On child for 10 yr. old (+50) +4 yr. old is Free = $200. Father and College student attend via Daily Passes.
Family of 6, (Blended family of Father, Mother, 16 yr. old with a summer job, 12 yr. old that attends the pool frequently, both that reside full time with parents, 2 teenagers that visit throughout the summer).
Mix and Match pricing – Individual Season Passes for Father & Mother ($150 x 2) Child Add on for 12 yr. old ($50) = $350. Other teenagers attend via Daily Passes.
Is the Season Pass format more expensive than in the past?
The Individual Season Pass is the same price as a 2019 Single Membership. Compared to previous Couple, Grandparent and Family plans there will be an increased cost to the patron. After exploring different options, the HSO Board felt this approach was "fairest" to most pool patrons.
Will Season Pass Holders get priority admission over guest passes?
Season Pass Holders will be given priority admission when nearing maximum occupancy.
Can I purchase Day Passes ahead of time?
Yes, Day Passes can be purchased at the pool once the pool opens. If you need them before May 29th, please contact us at info@hillsboroswim.com. A reminder that Daily Passes are not reservations for the pool, they are presented upon entrance to the pool.
When using a Day Pass, do I have to come with a Season Pass Holder?
No, as a community pool, patrons can purchase a Day Pass for admittance. Single attendees must be 13+ years of age. Season Pass Holders will be given priority admission when nearing maximum capacity.
Will you be taking daily reservations?
Currently, we are not implementing a reservation system.
Will you have a payment plan option?
No, we will not have a payment plan for 2023.
Will you be offering “hardship” sponsorship for individuals and families that need financial assistance?
That is a program we hope to initiate in the future. As in the past, businesses and members of our community are welcome to sponsor either individual season or daily passes.
What days will the Tomahawk Truck be at the pool?
Currently the Tomahawk Truck is scheduled for stops. Monday-Friday, starting May 30th. The Tomahawk Truck distributes healthy & tasty meals to anyone 18 and younger, no personal financial parameters apply.
Can we still bring our own food to the pool?
As in the past, Patrons will be permitted to bring food, nonalcoholic drinks, and coolers to the pool. (no glass containers allowed)
Will the concession stand be open?
Yes, the concession stand will be open daily, selling snacks and beverages.
Are we able to have parties at the pool?
After the initial opening we will begin scheduling pool parties. Information will be posted to our website. We offer both Day Parties as well as After Hours Parties.
Will you have Moonlight Swims and other pool parties?
After the initial opening we will schedule pool events for June, July and August.
Why do you close at 7pm?
Historical attendance records showed on average 4 people were in attendance after 7:00 pm. We will continue to monitor the evening attendance and adjust if necessary.
What changes did you make to the Clubhouse?
Changes to the Patron check-in process, concession area floorplan design, a small indoor seating area, and painting the building will be completed prior to opening. These were accomplished by generous donations from community members, with a small portion being paid by the Hillsboro Swim Organization. Recent donations include kitchen equipment and restriping the parking lot. We appreciate our community and the FABULOUS support that has been offered in the transition.
Do you have plans to add basketball courts or a splash pad?
These items, along with other recreation and aquatic ideas, will be discussed for our 5-year plan.
